My name is Cary L. Lackey, a Phoenix attorney, and I have been defending Arizona residents and visitors charged with DUI/DWI and serious crimes, statewide, for 20 years. I know Arizona’s adult and juvenile court systems and understand the approach prosecutors take. My success in criminal defense is the result of personal attention I pay to every case. At The Law Office of Cary L. Lackey, P.C., I will not hand your matter off to anyone else.

When charged with a crime, you need and deserve the best possible criminal defense representation. The consequences of a conviction are severe. A misdemeanor can result in six months of jail and fines. A felony conviction can lead to long prison terms, enormous fines and confiscation of property. There may be no probation eligibility. Penalties for subsequent felonies are even more severe.

Other repercussions of a conviction cannot be ignored. Your reputation will be damaged, you’ll have serious difficulty finding employment, and there will be strain upon you and your loved ones. In short, a conviction for a crime could mean losing everything you value most — including freedom, home, and family.

I understand what is needed to put together the best possible defense and will fight for your rights while doing whatever is in my power to mitigate or eliminate potential penalties. It should never be assumed in any criminal case that an arrest means guilt as the burden of proving a crime remains with the prosecution. I hold prosecutors to that burden by challenging any evidence or testimony that does not belong in a court of law.

When facing a conviction, you need a lawyer who has been there before. At The Law Office of Cary L. Lackey, P.C., I will put all of my experience and skills as a criminal defense attorney to work for you.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
