At The Dodds Law Firm, PLC, we focus on protecting the legal rights of clients who have suffered losses because of the abusive, deceptive or unfair conduct of businesses, school districts or other individuals – abuses which if not corrected may result in the ruination of our clients and adverse legal judgments against them. In addition, we routinely represent clients in matters alleging breach of contract, accounts stated, or open account theories of recovery. Lastly, our firm also represents citizens in all matters related to Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings when it is determined that filing for bankruptcy protection is the most sensible alternative for the client to pursue.

On a more personal level, we take a down-to-earth, responsive approach with our clients, treating each one with the same concern and compassion we would wish to receive if our client was our attorney. We work hard to carefully listen and respond to each client's questions and concerns so that the unknown fear surrounding litigation and/or bankruptcy is significantly reduced. We also attempt to reduce the emotional tension that exists when one is being sued by demonstrating that we sincerely care about our clients and the situation that has brought them to our office. We demonstrate concern by carefully explaining complex legal theories in a way that a typical person who has not been trained as an attorney can understand. In fact, we are committed to taking the time to not only explain what the law may be but we also take the time necessary so that our clients clearly understand their options and the strategies we will use in prosecuting or defending their cases if that is what they wish to do.

Our Practice:

Litigation

Our firm's litigation practice is primarily focused on matters involving the representation of citizens in matters of civil litigation. Typically, we represent citizens who are being sued by mortgage lenders, credit card companies, third-party debt collectors and on occasion, law suits brought by individual citizens in Arizona state courts. Nevertheless, we are also ready to represent clients in federal court who may have been injured by creditors who have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and/or the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Bankruptcy

Our firm's representation is limited to the preparation and filing of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. Everyone at The Dodds Law Firm understands how emotionally difficult it is when clients have struggled to do everything in their power to resolve their financial situation. Notwithstanding those efforts, most, if not all of our clients have come to the realization that resolving their debt problems is unlikely unless they seek protection from their creditors by filing bankruptcy. Our firm understands that the vast majority of our clients are hard-working, honest citizens who have not abused their access to credit. In other words, we know that our clients are not in financial trouble because they carelessly used and abused their access to credit, but because they are being financially crushed by the worst economy since the Great Depression. Our firm is here to assist our clients in resolving their debt crisis and regaining their emotional well-being so they can move on with the rest of their lives.

Special Education

Unfortunately, far too many public schools fail to adequately provide for the needs of their students who have recognized special needs. Needs that if not met, will contribute to their failure to benefit from their public school experience. Our firm is well versed in Special Education Law, as Dr. Dodds, before becoming an attorney, spent 28 years in public education serving as a teacher, a high school principal and, for 14 of those years, a public school superintendant. Even though he has not been a practicing educator for over 10 years, Dr. Dodds remains committed to the premise that all children, even those with difficult-to-provide-for special needs, deserve the opportunity to participate in, and obtain, a high-quality education so that when they graduate, these children can also lead meaningful and productive lives in our society.
