Finding favorable solutions for clients going through divorce is a challenge that Martha Bourne & Associates welcomes daily. Since the founding of her firm in 1986, Martha Bourne has been a steady presence in Houston and the surrounding area regarding family law matters. She offers a wide range of experience — from bringing high-asset divorce matters to closure to shepherding clients through the court process. Her goal is to always work toward alternative solutions for her clients outside the courtroom.
Martha began her law practice in 1981 as an associate with Burta Rhoads Raborn, a founding member of the Association of Women Attorneys in Houston, Texas. Under Raborn's direction, Martha obtained heavy trial experience she often relies upon today to assist clients in making decisions about complex family law matters.
In 1987, she became certified as a specialist in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. “Board Certification is a mark of excellence and a distinguishing accomplishment. It means an attorney has substantial, relevant experience in a select field of law as well as demonstrated, and tested, special competence in that area of law.”
Martha Bourne is also a member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists (TAFLS). She is among a small, distinguished group of 725 lawyers in Texas who can provide exceptional service to anyone going through sometimes complicated matters regarding marital property.
For almost a decade, Texas Super Lawyers has recognized Martha Bourne for her high level of professional achievement. She is also AV Preeminent-rated* by Martindale-Hubbell. Similar to Super Lawyers, this rating is provided to attorneys who have received high praise from other members of the bar for their knowledge and ethical standards.
Attorney Bourne has also been a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 2002. In 2014, she was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© by Woodward/White Inc. and was recognized among the Best Lawyers in Texas in 2015.
*AV Preeminent is a certification mark of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell ratings fall into two categories: legal ability and general ethical standards.
