Brown, PC Law Firm Overview
Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, the law firm of Brown, PC, was founded in 1992 and serves clients throughout the United States and globally. Our legal team represents businesses and individuals in complex tax issues leading to tax litigation or tax controversy.
Brown, PC, clients include persons and businesses who are subject to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax audits and/or tax-related criminal charges. We have successfully represented clients with federal tax litigation and appeals, matters related to offshore accounts, tax controversies, federal asset forfeiture, as well as, state and local tax litigation.
Our clients face serious consequences, such as fines, payment of back taxes and incarceration. Many are overwhelmed by the tax controversies they face and have difficulty maintaining core business functions. Brown, PC, manages all taxation matters, allowing our clients to focus on what matters most - managing their businesses and their lives.
Our founding and principal attorney is Lawrence Brown. Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory lists Mr. Brown as a preeminent attorney (awarded to approximately 5 percent of practicing attorneys nationwide), and has awarded him its AV rating (highest possible for legal proficiency and professional ethics). Mr. Brown is uniquely qualified to represent his clients in complex tax controversies, disputes and litigation. He gained an insider's understanding of IRS and Department of Justice Tax Division policies, procedures and strategies as a former U.S. Department Justice Tax Division trial attorney. Prior to litigating tax cases for the Department of Justice, Mr. Brown served on active duty as a Navy Judge Advocate where he prosecuted and investigated high profile cases. Now representing the private sector, Lawrence Brown puts into practice the knowledge and builds on the relationships he developed while working for the United States Department of Justice.
Throughout his career, Lawrence Brown has handled a broad spectrum of high-profile and sophisticated litigation, including the largest civil asset forfeiture case ever administered by the Internal Revenue Service, as well as the largest employment tax fraud the IRS ever prosecuted. Mr. Brown's experience includes over 100 jury trials and over 400 bench trials to verdict, and he has settled countless other matters at the IRS administrative level or otherwise - without the need of trial.
Brown, PC, also combines the knowledge and skill of several former IRS agents. These include Lisa King, Paul Gonzalez, Rick Ryser and Jeff Lerner. All are former IRS employees who held a variety of positions with the Internal Revenue Service, including Revenue Officer, Collection Group Manager, Bankruptcy Section Group Manager and Branch Chief. Each uses extensive experience to counsel our clients regarding IRS audits and appeals, criminal tax matters and tax collections. Brown, PC, can assemble a team of these former IRS experts to represent clients in complex tax matters.
Clients at our Texas law firm can also benefit from the counsel of attorneys Carolyn Dove, Ashley Martinez and Ashley Schieck. Having passed the CPA examination and working as a staff accountant in some of the largest companies in the United States prior to graduating from law school, Carolyn Dove's background uniquely qualifies her to represent clients in sophisticated tax controversy and tax litigation matters. Ashley Martinez brings to the firm her experience as a tax consultant and as an assistant city attorney and municipal prosecutor for the City of Arlington, Texas, prior to joining Brown, PC. In addition to being a skilled litigator, Ashley Schieck has a deep background in accounting, having passed the CPA examination and having earned both Bachelor's and her Master's degrees in accounting in addition to her law degree.
Brown, PC, continues to expand, with recent plans to open a new, Washington, D.C., law office, in order for our legal team to best use its resources, knowledge and experience to effectively handle complex and large-scale tax matters.
