In Arizona, the theft of any kind of property or services with a value of at least $1,000 can be charged as a felony. Felony theft charges can also be filed where property was stolen directly from the person of another (typically charged as robbery), or for the theft of any vehicle or firearm.
Penalties imposed by the criminal justice system for a first-time felony theft conviction may include substantial fines, as well as a prison sentence of up to one year for a Class 6 felony (theft of property or services with a value of at least $1,000 but less than $2,000) or up to five years for a Class 2 felony ($25,000 or more).
