Unlike a “regular” divorce, mediation allows you to work out all the details of your separation and divorce through private consultation and agreement. You are only required to appear in court once you have worked through all the issues.

Often, mediation works well for couples who wish to develop a more positive working relationship with their spouses, especially over child custody and placement arrangements. Mediation often lets you resolve your differences more amicably, maintain your dignity and encourages a spirit of cooperation between you and your spouse.

Although I practice as a family law attorney, when I agree to a mediation case, I represent neither side throughout the process.
