Divorce is painful enough for couples without the added adversarial nature of traditional litigation-based divorce. There is a better way.

Divorce Mediation with Financial Planning Is All We Do.

In his early years of practice, Mr. Caruthers was a prosecuting attorney in Arlington, acquiring extensive courtroom experience. Now a seasoned family law attorney-mediator and Certified Financial Planner™ with an advanced law degree in taxation, attorney Don Caruthers brings a broad base of legal knowledge and financial acumen to mediation. Mr. Caruthers is AV Peer Review Rated* through Martindale-Hubbell.

Mediator Lorren T. Johnston is currently a student of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, and is a candidate to receive her Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation. Ms. Johnston attended the Columbus School of Law at
Catholic University in Washington, D.C. How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
