Elected the Presiding Judge of the 272nd District Court in Brazos County, Texas in 2000, Rick Davis quickly established himself as a positive judicial force noted for his high energy and wise decisions. Rick Davis I ranked highest among the District Judges in the most recent Brazos County Bar Association poll. He is widely known and respected for his integrity and fairness. He was re-elected as Judge in 2004.
Rick is a graduate of Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M University, Rick was a member of the Fight'n Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation. After becoming a qualified Infantry Officer, he transferred his branch to Armor and served for ten years in the 49th Armored Division of the Texas Army National Guard.
After graduation, he was j employed as an engineer at NASA in Houston, first in the Space Shuttle Program, then in the Space Station Program. While at McDonnell Douglas, he was awarded the General Manager's Award for his work on STS-37, the first flight after the 1986 Challenger accident when astronauts successfully achieved extravehicular activities.
During his service in the Texas National Guard and while raising a family and working at NASA, Rick attended the University of Houston - Bates Law School and graduated in 1992. Initially, he practiced law with a prominent Bryan firm and later opened his own practice before being elected judge of Brazos County Court at Law No. 2 in 1998.
Rick Davis and his wife Carolyn, both Aggies, have been married for nearly 22 years and live in College Station. They are the proud parents of six children. Their oldest son is currently an engineering student at Texas A&M University and is a member of the Corps of Cadets with an Army ROTC contract. Their second son is a student at Texas A&M at Galveston and has aspirations to be a United States military officer. Their other children are in College Station's high school and elementary schools.
In 2007, Rick published his first book, The Prison Sermons, (which you can check out at www.ZenasPublishingHouse.com) and is working on his second.
