Law Firm Overview

I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1977 and from the University of Maine Law School in 1985.

After working for other lawyers for several years, I began my own practice of law in 1990. I am licensed in Connecticut and Rhode Island and have offices in Westerly, Rhode Island and Norwich, Connecticut. I am able to practice in other states under appropriate circumstances (several years ago I achieved a settlement in an accident case in Iowa, while representing Connecticut plantiffs, for $1,300,000.00). I am licensed to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Connecticut and Rhode Island, the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, and am admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Over the years I have received settlements or verdicts with respect to claims filed against a wide spectrum of defendants- United Technologies, The City of New London; Connecticut, the Rhode Island State Police, Hoyt's Cinemas and a major rehabilitation hospital, just to name a few. In the last two years I have achieved settlements in medical malpractice cases in excess of $2,000,000.00. In 2005 I achieved one of the largest verdicts in the state of Rhode Island for that year.

I have done these things, notwithstanding I am not a member of a large "litigation" machine. What I offer, because of my "solo" status, is one on one treatment which allows me to give personal attention to each case and to treat each case, not as a generic problem, but as one special to each client.
