Law Firm Overview

Law offices can be intimidating. The lawyer wears a sharp suit. The walls are covered with impressive diplomas. Even the furniture is amazing.

The Marin Law Firm, P.A. • A Different Kind Of Law Office

The Marin Law Firm in Orlando is not like that. We try to make a place people can feel comfortable coming to. Everyone speaks Spanish. We are informal. We probably know some of the same people. We want to know about your family, and how things are.

Caring for clients is one thing. Our firm is also known for its aggressiveness and tenacity in protecting clients' interests. When we fight for you, you will be represented aggressively. We have helped hundreds of Central Florida families to make fresh starts, resolve old arguments, and protect family members from unjust criminal accusations.

We Understand International Marriages

We at The Marin Law Firm, P.A., understand international marriages, which can be very difficult. Two people meet, one comes as a fiancée to the U.S. to get married, and a year later, the couple is breaking up. We have represented both sides in international marriages during divorce.

Florida's laws regarding child custody, child support, alimony and property rights may be quite different from those in your country of origin. You may not understand what your rights are, or what actions you need to take. We can help with these problems, explaining how the system works and walking you through the challenges one step at a time.

It's a difficult time, with both sides wondering how sincere the other side is. At such a time, it's comforting to have an attorney who knows what the couple is going through, and wants what is best for them.

The Kinds Of Law Families Need Most Often

When you come to see Carmelina Marin, our lawyer, you speak directly with her. Our firm accepts cases in three general areas:

  • Divorce and family law. We assist with divorce, parenting time issues, property division, child support and modifications. We also help in areas not related to divorce: adoptions, stepparents' rights, prenuptial agreements and avoiding the legal pitfalls of parenting.
  • Bankruptcy. When bills become unpayable, our system has a safety valve, allowing you to wipe your bills clean and start over. We invite you to visit us and discuss the Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 solutions.
  • Criminal charges. We represent individuals charged with all misdemeanors and felonies, including drug possession, DUI, robbery, theft, assault and domestic violence.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
