Nelson Law Group represents both employers and employees in all types of labor and employment matters. While many firms choose to represent either employers or employees exclusively, it is our belief that by representing both we are better able to recognize, understand and address the root causes of employment disputes. We handle matters involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, unpaid overtime, denied meal and rest breaks, breach of privacy and defamation. We represent individuals and companies in a wide range of industries and occupations, including doctors, dentists, veterinarians, accountants, car dealers, distributors, staffing companies and retail businesses. We offer the following specific services to our clients:

For employers:

  • Advice and counseling
  • Drafting, reviewing and revising employee handbooks and personnel policies
  • Drafting and/or reviewing employment or partnership agreements, release and settlement agreements, and arbitration agreements
  • Management training (including mandatory sex harassment training
  • Litigation defense
  • Defense against administrative claims (e.g., Labor Commissioner complaints, OSHA citations, etc.)

For employees:

  • Advice and counseling
  • Contract review and revisions
  • Negotiating release and/or settlement agreements
  • Litigation representation

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
