Greg Heller stepped into a huge mess for my family when my father suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury in a car accident 22 years ago. He was a God-send to us and my dad. I cannot recommend him highly enough. His impact on us can best be summed up in the email I sent to him when my dad passed away after 21 years: "Hi Greg, I wanted to let you know that my dad passed away peacefully this afternoon. We are devastated, but confident in the fact that he is no longer injured, but restored and free. Your involvement in his life, championing him and his family was irreplaceable. Because of you, he lived a post-injury life with dignity, purpose and quality. Without you, his legacy to his children would have been painful. Instead, he was given time and ability to build beautiful memories and leave us in a very different place. Thank you."

Joseph ?Pete? Ricchuiti was a mediator for a law suit we filed. I could not have found a better mediator. Pete was kind and very thorough. It was clear from the beginning he has quite a bit of experience in this field. I will always remember him for using humor to calm me and knowledge to bring our case to a satisfactory end.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
