Kieth Rieger has focused in the area of matrimonial law for more than three decades.  In that time, he has handled a number of challenging and complex matters, including several significant equitable distribution and interstate  custody disputes.  Mr. Rieger even set legal precedent in a landmark custody case involving the rights of a non-biological father.

Mr. Rieger is joined at the firm by his partner Michael Fried.  For nearly twenty years, Mr. Fried has exclusively practiced matrimonial law .  Mr. Fried has participated in numerous hearings and trials in Nassau, Suffolk and Kings Counties, all pertaining to custody, equitable distribution, child support and maintenance.

In March 2014, Mr. Fried was selected as a "barrister" to the exclusive New York Family Law American Inn of Court.

In 2012 Joshua Rieger joined Rieger & Fried, LLP as an associate attorney and has since solely practiced matrimonial law.  Mr. Rieger handles all aspects of matrimonial litigation, from uncontested divorces to highly litigated complex custody and financial matters.  He is also a mediator.

In October 2014, Joshua Rieger was selected as a New York Metro Super Lawyer "Rising Star."

At Rieger & Fried, LLP, it is the mission of our firm to be committed advocates on behalf of our clients with the goal of seeking a fair and expeditious resolution of all issues and avoid protracted litigation.  However, if the circumstances warrant litigation, we will employ all of our knowledge, trial experience and resources to aggressively represent our clients to achieve the best possible result.    Read less

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
