Who are MacDonald Law Office clients?

The MacDonald Law Office, LLC, represents a wide variety of clients against all types of criminal charges. We represent clients charged with minor misdemeanors and major felonies, including drunk driving, drug crimes, violent crimes, weapon possession, domestic violence, assault and theft in Maryland district and circuit courts, and federal court. Most of our clients are good people who made a bad decision. Our goal is to make sure that a bad decision doesn’t ruin a person’s life. We represent local clients and clients who live out of state, including college students, Ocean City vacationers and other visitors, white collar professionals and blue collar workers. Our lawyers believe that every person charged with a crime, regardless of guilt, background, income, profession, race or criminal history deserves to have his or her rights protected by a good criminal defense lawyer.

What are the qualifications of the MacDonald Law Office Attorneys?

Andrew and Cynthia MacDonald were both Wicomico County prosecutors right here on the Eastern Shore. Andrew MacDonald was a well-respected prosecutor for more than 10 years before opening his own criminal defense practice in 2006. Cynthia MacDonald was previously a partner at one of Salisbury’s largest law firms before joining her husband’s practice. We have 20 years of combined experience in criminal law. Having worked on both sides, we have a complete understanding of criminal cases. Our diverse experience makes us much more efficient and effective at defending your case. We dedicate our entire practice to criminal defense and strive to provide personalized, aggressive representation.

What are the objectives of the MacDonald Law Office?

Our objective is to get our clients the best result possible. The cornerstone of the American criminal justice system is that every person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until the State proves his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. We respect that constitutional right and hold the State to their burden. No matter what type of charges you are facing, we will do everything in our power to avoid a conviction and keep your record clean. We seize any opportunity to get the charges against you dismissed. If the State won’t dismiss the charges, we will get you the best plea offer possible. Local prosecutors know that we are skilled trial lawyers who are ready to take a case to court if they do not treat you fairly. If the State’s plea offer is unacceptable, we will not hesitate to pursue a not guilty verdict in court.

How are clients treated at the MacDonald Law Office?

We treat our clients with respect. Our clients appreciate the personalized service they receive at our law firm. You will work directly with your lawyer throughout the process. We promptly return phone calls, and you always have access to us if questions or concerns arise. Contact our office today for a free consultation. We will take the time to answer your questions and explain your legal options.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
