Gislason has earned her reputation as a powerful and tenacious family lawyer, and an influential and savvy art and entertainment attorney. Selected by her colleagues as a Law & leading Attorney in both practice areas, she has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in the Minnesota Monthly and Law and Politics , a Top Attorney in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine , and appears on the National Registry of Who's Who.

A family lawyer since 1980, Gislason is in demand in the seven-county Metropolitan area, and statewide by both male and female clients. She deals with disputes concerning businesses, children, maintenance and support, inheritances, real and personal property, paternity, grandparent rights and abuse. The American Bar Association has nationally recognized Gislason for her superior client counseling skills. A highly effective communicator and negotiator, Gislason is at her best in the Courtroom. As a third generation attorney and granddaughter of distinguished New Ulm District Court Judge A.B. Gislason, she is a home there.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
