Law Firm Overview

After serving five years as a federal prosecutor in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Franklyn M. Gimbel looked to a new challenge. In 1968, Frank founded his own law firm, focusing on criminal defense work. Over the years, Frank was joined by former federal prosecutors Richard E. Reilly and Thomas E. Brown, and former Wisconsin Department of Justice Special Agent D. Michael Guerin.

Today, over thirty years later, Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown is recognized as one of the best trial firms in the State of Wisconsin, having successfully represented individuals and businesses in trials ranging from personal injury to family law to business litigation to employment to products liability to criminal law. Richard Reilly has been recognized as one of Milwaukee Magazine's Best Lawyers in family law, including divorce, custody disputes and paternity cases, especially regarding financial issues.

Mike Guerin is an experienced litigator focusing on personal injury, criminal and other civil litigation. He is currently President of the Milwaukee Bar Association and has taught trial practice courses at Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Patrick J. Knight and Raymond M. Dall'Osto joined the firm after several years in the State Public Defender's office. In addition to criminal defense work, Pat Knight has an extensive background dealing with state and federal regulatory and enforcement agencies, representing individuals and entities facing complex civil, criminal or business issues. Ray Dall'Osto's criminal defense practice complements his substantial experience preserving and protecting the constitutional and civil rights of individuals, which was initiated during his tenure as Executive Director of the Milwaukee Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Denis J. Regan represents individuals and small businesses seeking counsel in the areas of real estate, corporate law, estate planning and probate.

Kathryn K. Keppel is the firm's "wordsmith." She has authored dozens of appellate and trial court briefs in all areas of the firm's practice and handles a large percentage of the firm's pretrial litigation obligations.

Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin and Brown also boasts two accomplished associates, who have proven to have profited from the mentoring and experience of the partners with whom they have worked closely.
