After graduating from William Mitchell College of Law in 1982, where he was a member of the law review, Stephen practiced in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in divorce and family law for a large national firm.

In 1985, Stephen decided to move away from those cold Minnesota winters to enjoy the natural wonders Oregon offers. He continued to work for the same national firm. Then Stephen worked for the Oregon State Public Defender, addressing constitutional issues at both the trial and appellate levels before returning to family law in 1991.

As a devoted father of two boys, he enjoys coaching them in sports and is active in their educational pursuits. Stephen understands the family unit and the unique emotional needs that arise when dealing with complex divorce and family issues. He can offer guidance and support within his office as well as additional help from other trusted professionals he has a long standing relationship with in finance, psychology and real estate.

As an attorney, Stephen Bedor established his law office in Lake Oswego in 1991 so he could practice primarily in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties. His experience and dedication in this area serves his clients well. As a result, he can offer superior family law and bankruptcy representation.

Stephen is a successful family law and bankruptcy attorney. "My extensive knowledge in all aspects of family law and past cases, bankruptcy, Chapter 7, and Chapter 13 cases gives me a clear idea of what works and what does not in obtaining desired results. I will take the time to listen, understand my clients' needs and then determine the best possible advice and solution to their financial issues."

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:
Comfort Level - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
Credentials - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
Cost - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
City - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?
