My name is Andrew Szczesniak. I am a New York family law attorney, and I have been practicing law for more than 30 years. During that time, I have represented many husbands, wives, unmarried parents, children and even grandparents in all aspects of custody and visitation. For the last 15 years, I have also served as appointed counsel for children (formerly called a "Law Guardian") in the New York courts, advocating for the rights of children in divorce and custody-related matters.

My practice can be broken down into two main types of cases:

• Resolving child custody and visitation-related issues as part of the divorce process, including issues of paternity and child support as well
  
• Obtaining post-divorce modifications to existing child custody and visitation orders, including modifications for custodial parents who need permission to relocate with their children

In each matter, I work toward the best possible outcome for all involved. Generally speaking, achieving an out-of-court settlement is the ideal solution as it allows parents to retain control over the end result rather than leaving these important decisions in the hands of a judge who doesn't know the parties involved. That said, I also have extensive trial experience and will be prepared to protect your rights and interests in either venue.

Throughout the legal process, in fact, I will be the person who meets with you, talks with you on the phone and does the legal work.
